Yang Ming Marine Transport Corporation (Yang Ming) was established on December 28, 1972.
At the middle of 2010, Yang Ming operates a fleet of 80 vessels with a 4.1-million-D.W.T / operating capacity 321 thousand TEUS, of which container ships are the mains service force.

Yang Ming has invested in exclusive terminals in Keelung, Kaohsiung and Taipei Harbor of Taiwan, Los Angeles and Tacoma of the United States, Antwerp of Belgium and Rotterdam of the Netherlands. Currently, we are engaged in terminal investment in Kaohsiung Harbor of Taiwan. The first phase of construction of Kaohsiung Intercontinental Container Terminal will be completed by 2010 to make Kaohsiung into a transshipment hub of the Far East.

Occupying over 360 square meters of the 11th Floor of the Yang Ming Chidu Building (our group headquarters), Yang Ming's Exhibition Center is a cultural and historical display of the early roots of our marine transportation services which date as far back as the late 19th century during the Ching Dynasty in China.

This Foundation has been set up to promote national awareness of our nation's unique international status in Asia and the Pacific, thus making Taiwan an maritime country surrounded by a sea of "unlimited horizons." To realize this culture of "facing the ocean and viewing the world as our stage," the Yang Ming Cultural Foundation seeks to promote marine cultural understanding, tourism, and both domestic and overseas recreation.

In order to make a difference in our community and inspire maritime-related cultural and artistic
activities, the long-awaited inaugural board meeting for the Yang Ming Cultural Foundation was
held on 29 SEP 2004. Now that our leadership in this foundation has been duly selected,
we are looking forward to the main goals of the Yang Ming Cultural Foundation,
which are primarily to promote marine-related cultural awareness, sponsor
charitable public activities, and to reflect our sincere concern to better
educate our society for the conservation of our marine habitats.
